Report from the 3rd Annual TALGS Conference!
The 3rd Annual TESOL and Linguistics Graduate Students conference took place on February 17th and 18th at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. Fifty-five attendees came to hear a wide variety of presentations that started at 8:15 a.m....

Report from the ExCEL Expo in Bangkok!
...Just the mere thought of several hundred students in one place might keep some adults away. However, those of you who decided not to attend ExCEL certainly missed out on seeing just how talented our very own Thai students can be when given the opportunity to put their creative side to work. The Ministry of Education’s goal to provide the opportunity for teachers and students to do just that certainly worked beyond expectations....

KATESOL Keynote Calls for Activism
...There wasn't snow on the ground, but the early February air was brisk and the information being shared with a record-setting 500 KATESOL conference-goers inside the K-State Student Union was bracing in its clarity. Racle had received his training directly from George Lozanov, the developer of the method. This was extremely important for my career as I spent the next 10 years as the head of a Suggestology program....

Controversial Board Decision Splinters National Association of Bilingual Educators
...The first half of the month of March has been filled with intrigue and wonder among those following the activities of the National Association for Bilingual Education (NABE). On March 6th, on Stephen Krashen's Mailing List, came a message titled: "My Resignation from the NABE Board." Krashen, along with past NABE president Josefina Tinajero and parent representative Mary Carol Combs, resigned from the NABE executive board in protest over the board's February 25th decision not to renew the contract of James Crawford, who has served for the past two years as executive director of the organization....
